WEQAS Launches External Quality Assessment Scheme for AmniSure®

From 17 December 2025, the Wales External Quality Assessment Scheme (WEQAS) has launched a dedicated External Quality Assessment (EQA) scheme for the AmniSure® test, used in the detection of rupture of membranes. This represents a significant step forward in clinical governance and quality assurance.

WEQAS is a nationally recognised, independent EQA provider, and the introduction of a scheme specific to AmniSure® reflects the test’s:

  • Established use within UK maternity services

  • Clinical relevance in the assessment of suspected rupture of membranes

  • Suitability for formal external quality monitoring

Hospitals and NHS trusts can enrol directly with WEQAS. For teams reviewing local testing pathways or governance frameworks, this development provides additional reassurance and standardisation for AmniSure® use in clinical practice.

AGHealth can also support discussions around implementation and enrolment via local account managers. Contact AGHealth for support with enrolment here.

NHS Pilots Underway for the WID-easy® Test

This month, AGHealth has launched additional NHS pilots across selected trusts in the UK of the simple and accurate WID-easy test for endometrial cancer.

These pilots are supporting clinical teams to improve triage for women referred via the USC pathway with abnormal uterine bleeding, while also helping services meet their 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard targets.

We look forward to welcoming more pilot sites in the months ahead.
