We are very pleased to announce that the NeoBellyBand™, a clinically-informed neonatal abdominal support device from Dandle•LION Medical, is now available for UK neonatal units.
In neonatal care, particularly among preterm and critically ill infants, maintaining abdominal wall integrity is a clinical priority. When the abdominal muscles are weak, distended, or under strain (for example, from CPAP-related gaseous distension), this can compromise:
Respiratory function, because the abdominal wall contributes to thoraco-abdominal stability
Gastrointestinal function, by influencing motility and distension handling
Musculoskeletal development, via the role of core muscles in postural control
The NeoBellyBand was specifically designed to support these functions in neonates in a gentle, non-compressive way, helping to stabilise the abdomen without impeding breathing or circulation.

Key Features of the NeoBellyBand
Skin-safe materials: A medical-grade blend of fabric and foam, shown to be safe even on very delicate, premature skin.
Breathable foam inlay: Lightweight, moisture-wicking, and soft - designed to lay gently against the infant’s abdomen.
Adjustable fit: Outer fabric is Velcro-receptive, allowing fine adjustments; it is not meant to compress, but to support.
Latex- and neoprene-free: Reducing risk of skin reactions.
Sizing: Comes in two core sizes (XS/S and M/L), which can be trimmed to suit the individual infant.
Clinical Evidence & Credibility
The NeoBellyBand was developed by Ginny McGill, PT, DPT, CNT, NTMTC, a neonatal therapy specialist with extensive experience in neonatal physiotherapy.
Its design is underpinned by both clinical case studies and literature:
A Journal of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine paper (“Neonatal abdominal support to address CPAP belly”) reviews two neonatal cases and the broader evidence base for using external abdominal support in infants. The full article is available to read here.
The Instructions for Use note that the band is intended to support muscle activation, not to apply compression, emphasising safe & functional stabilisation.
A practical bedside guide and video are available to support correct implementation.
In this 50-minute webinar, Ginny McGill explains in detail the science behind the device and dives into the multiple case studies where the NeoBellyBand has transformed outcomes for neonates.
Conclusion
The UK launch of the NeoBellyBand represents a meaningful step forward in neonatal care. By combining thoughtful design, clinical evidence, and practical usability, this device offers a valuable option for supporting abdominal wall function in the most vulnerable infants.
